Bringing Robotics to Life at the Sci-Tech Discovery Center
Radicubs demonstrated our robot to summer campers, explaining its mechanisms and letting every student drive.

Bringing Robotics to Life at the Sci-Tech Discovery Center
At Radicubs, we love showing younger students that robotics is more than just wires, motors, and code. It’s about creativity, problem-solving, and discovering how things work! We had the opportunity to visit the Sci-Tech Discovery Center twice to give robot demonstrations to summer camp students and introduce them to the exciting world of competitive robotics.
During our visits, we broke down our robot’s different subsystems into concepts that elementary school students could understand. We explained how our intake collects game pieces and how our double shooter launches them, showing how each mechanism plays a specific role in helping the robot complete its tasks. Rather than just describing the engineering behind our robot, we demonstrated how the different parts work together to turn an idea into a functioning machine.
But the highlight of both visits was giving every single student the chance to drive the robot themselves! Instead of simply watching from the sidelines, each camper got hands-on experience controlling a real FRC competition robot. For many of the students, it was an exciting opportunity to experience robotics firsthand and see the results of engineering in action.
These visits reminded us why STEM outreach is such an important part of being a Radicub. By making robotics approachable and giving students the chance to experiment for themselves, we hope to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of engineers, programmers, and innovators.
Thank you to the Sci-Tech Discovery Center for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to share our passion for robotics with its summer campers. We had a fantastic time demonstrating our robot, answering questions, and watching students discover just how exciting robotics can be!
